Manchester United failed to win the Premier League this season. Bruno Fernandes also revealed the moment that made MU finally give up in the title competition.
Why MU failed to Win the Premier League
Manchester United had mastered the top of the Premier League standings in January 2021. They are four points ahead of Manchester City who are in third place.
However, MU then surprisingly suffered a 1-2 defeat to Sheffield United and drew 1-1 against West Brom. Minor results that make MU lose the top of the standings.
Meanwhile, Manchester City continued to go fast. They eventually won the 2020/21 Premier League with three matches remaining.
Crucial Moment
Bruno Fernandes believes that this moment has dashed hopes of winning Manchester United.
"We are aware this season that playing against teams fighting relegation is more complicated than we imagined," Bruno Fernandes told ESPN Brazil.
"We lost four points when we were first against Sheffield United and West Brom and it was the four points that made the difference for City so they can come close and overtake us."
More Focus
For this reason, Bruno Fernandez wants his team to be more focused when fighting teams that are struggling at the bottom.
"This makes us understand that we have to be focused and aware that all the games will be difficult and it is important for us to continue to fight for the title," he continued.
"That's where we failed, especially in January, which was our worst moment when we could have extended our lead over City, which didn't happen."
"City, deservedly, passed us and were able to lead us by a great distance."

Bring MU Champion
"I think the club has grown a lot since before I arrived, it is in a developing phase and the players are increasingly understanding the mindset you have to have to play at a club like Man United, who want to win and win titles," he continued.
"That's what we are here for. And, of course, I feel part of that and I want to help the club develop, to win and hopefully we can grow even more to fight for more trophies."
