Barcelona Are Very Close to Bringing Memphis Depay

 Spanish giants Barcelona are reportedly very close to acquiring Memphis Depay. The claim was made by European transfer specialist Sky Sport journalist Fabrizio Romano.


Depay is certain to leave Lyon at the end of this season after. His contract with the French club expires and will not be extended.

Depay is likely to continue his career in Spain with Barcelona. The Dutch player has reached an agreement with Barca.

Barcelona Getting Closer

Romano claims that Barcelona are only one step away from completing Depay's transfer. The Spanish giant offered a two or three year contract to Depay.

"Barcelona are very close to finalizing the Memphis Depay deal, also after signing Sergio Aguero," Romano tweeted.

"Direct negotiations have continued in the last few days with Depay's new lawyer. Barça has offered him a 2 or 3 year contract - Depay wants to accept it once the last details have been corrected."

Depay himself joined Lyon in January 2017. At that time he was brought in from the Premier League club Manchester United.

The former PSV player appeared quite productive with Lyon. He managed to record 76 goals and 53 assists from 177 appearances.

This season, Depay has played 39 matches in all competitions. He packed 22 goals and 10 assists from these appearances.

Through his personal Twitter account, Romano reported on the latest developments regarding Aguero's transfer to Barcelona. According to Romano, Aguero will soon undergo a medical with the Blaugrana.

Aguero will then be announced as a new Barcelona player after the Champions League final. The final match between Chelsea and Man City is scheduled to take place on May 29 in Portugal.
"Sergio Aguero will complete his medical as a new Barcelona player in the next few days, then he will be announced after the UCL final," tweeted Romano.

Chelsea Not Interested


Aguero is reportedly a target for Chelsea. However, Romano said that the Blues were never interested in signing the player.
"He rejects the approach of three clubs - Chelsea was never interested. The contract is approved and will be signed," he concluded.
